Ohm Radio

Ohm Radio 96.3 FM is Charleston’s only independent, community-driven nonprofit radio station, dedicated to amplifying local voices, original music, diverse perspectives, and hyperlocal storytelling. Founded on the belief that media should reflect and serve the people who live where it broadcasts, Ohm Radio exists to provide an accessible platform for Charleston’s artists, musicians, thinkers, culture-makers, and change agents.

At a time when media ownership is increasingly consolidated and programming is syndicated across markets, Ohm Radio remains proudly local — built by Charlestonians, programmed by Charlestonians, and created for Charlestonians. Our volunteer DJs, producers, and hosts curate live and pre-recorded programming that spans genres, generations, and viewpoints, offering content you simply cannot hear anywhere else on the dial.

As a nonprofit organization, Ohm Radio’s mission is to strengthen community connection through independent media. We provide hands-on training in broadcasting and audio production, cultivate emerging talent, support local musicians through airplay and live performance opportunities, and create space for civic dialogue and cultural exchange.

From music discovery and arts coverage to public affairs conversations and live event broadcasts, Ohm Radio operates as both a creative incubator and a community gathering place — on-air and in real life. Nimble, responsive, and deeply embedded in Charleston’s cultural fabric, Ohm Radio serves as a vital counterpoint to homogenized media, ensuring that the stories, sounds, and spirit of the Lowcountry are heard loud and clear.
