Ohm Radio is Charleston’s first community, commercial-free radio station! We have been on the air 24/7 Since August 1, 2015. Ohm Radio will broadcast music by local, independent, and legendary artists. We’ll spread the good word about what local entrepreneurs, non-profits, and social groups are doing to enhance our community. We will unite Charleston’s diverse community of voices with original and creative programming.
Ohm Radio 96.3 FM (WOHM LP) is the latest venture of Media Reform SC, a grassroots non-profit group that promotes democracy through media. Media Reform SC believes in free speech, the full and accurate flow of information, and the power of noncommercial, listener-supported community radio. Starting this station is an urgent matter to us because we believe that the corporate media giants distort the news and overlook what is really important to local communities. Media Reform SC is the organization entitled to solicit and receive funds on behalf of Ohm Radio.
Ohm Radio’s Mission Statement
Ohm Radio provides listener-supported, non-profit, non-commercial, locally-produced programming dedicated to serving Charleston, SC with a wide range of community perspectives. We operate in a nonpartisan, nonsectarian manner. We believe that democracy cannot flourish when only a few have access to the media, so we aspire to be a forum for voices and points of view that are underrepresented in our community’s existing media. Our goal is to inform and empower listeners to play an active role in Ohm Radio and in the Charleston community. Our programming promotes the arts, equality, peace, sustainability, democracy, health, and social and economic justice. Because we believe
that knowledge is power we work diligently to bring rich educational resources to our listening audience.

Providing local programming that promotes democracy, sustainability and a healthy community; To broadcast programming that reflects and strengthens the diverse cultural fabric of our local community; and to educate our listening audience about artists, musicians and all artists that uniquely express an understanding of our community and

The Meaning Behind Our Name
In physics, an OHM is a unit of resistance, and this OHM Radio campaign is about resisting corporate “piped-in” radio and promoting local, noncommercial radio that is genuine, relevant, and reflects who we are as a community.
